a275239138 feat(python): support Ruff formatting and config directories (#1573)
Ruff is now an external formatter for Python next to the Ruff language server: Settings › Languages & Frameworks › Ruff has the executable path, a configuration directory (or file), the provider preference, enabled languages, run-on-save, and Reformat with Ruff. Formatting runs on the unsaved document through stdin (with Ruff's --range for selections, in 1-based code-point columns) and never writes the file first. The configuration directory is shared with Ruff LSP, which can then start without a root marker. Tools that can't format a language are rejected even when requested.

Julien Dudek 59567f1af0 feat(i18n): add French (#730)
Adds French as a UI language, with French catalogs for message keys and source text,
and the French space before a colon in settings labels.

UI languages are now registered in one place, `LOCALES` in `src/platform/i18n.ts` (name
in its own language and `<html lang>` tag); the Language and Region options, settings
validation and `<html lang>` all come from it. The catalog tests read every catalog in
`locales/` and `locales/text/`, so a new file is always checked, and literal message keys
given to `t` must exist in `en.json`. Only Chinese must cover every UI string; French and
Korean show English for text they lack.

Also makes two date tests independent of DST changes.

Andrea Basileтаandreabasile df6fbb6d21 fix(tools): offer to install only the first missing server of interchangeable ones (#1082)
Opening a Python file with none of basedpyright, Pyright, ty and Pyrefly installed raised four install notices at once: each fallback server reports missing after the one before it, and every missing server was prompted. Among interchangeable servers only the first missing one is offered now (events handled one at a time so a fallback sees whether the server before it was offered); a fallback is still offered when the servers before it can't be installed or are turned off.

arookieofcтаa-rookie-of-C-language 9dbae1d189 feat(agents): configurable executable for every built-in agent (#682)
Settings › Tools › Agents is split into Built-in and ACP Registry tabs. The Built-in tab lists every built-in agent with its status (custom executable or not found on PATH) and, for the selected agent, its default launch line, an Executable field (empty = auto-detect on PATH) with Browse and Reset, and its sign-in hint. Edits are staged with the Settings dialog and written on Apply / OK; Cancel discards them.

The override is written to <config>/agents/<id>.toml, keeping hand-written name, driver, args and env; resetting a command-only override removes the file. AgentProvider now exposes the program, args, built-in defaults, login hint and whether the command is editable: built-ins started through a package runner (npx) and registry installs are read-only, with the reason shown.

Piettro b55c398fb5 feat(python): add Pyrefly language server (#911)
Pyrefly (`pyrefly lsp`) joins basedpyright, Pyright and ty as a fallback Python language server. It is installable from Tools as a managed virtualenv tool and is listed among the interchangeable type checkers, before Ruff, so Ruff still runs after them.

Pyrefly only reports type errors in projects with a Pyrefly configuration (`pyrefly.toml` or `[tool.pyrefly]`); hover, completion and navigation work without one. A real-server test (ignored by default, needs `pyrefly` on PATH) covers startup, go-to-definition and diagnostics.

Piettro 843ff74d5d fix(tools): name uv as the installer for Python servers when it makes the virtualenv (#936)
CI / Rust (ubuntu-22.04) (push) Failing after 1h0m10s
CI / Remote server (linux musl) (push) Failing after 24m13s
CI / Cargo deny (push) Successful in 48s
CI / Frontend (push) Successful in 24m55s
CI / E2E (push) Failing after 14m16s
CI / Rust (macos-latest) (push) Canceled after 0s
CI / Rust (windows-latest) (push) Canceled after 0s
Tools and the install log named "pip (virtualenv)" for Python language servers (basedpyright, Pyright, ty, Ruff) even when the virtualenv is made with uv, which `install_venv` prefers whenever uv is on `PATH`.

The label now comes from the installer that will actually run: "uv (virtualenv)" when uv is on `PATH`, unchanged otherwise. debugpy's private copy still says pip, since it is always installed with `python -m pip`.

Andrea Basileтаandreabasile a623e5d385 feat(python): add ruff language server for lint, format and organize imports (#859)
In projects configured for Ruff (ruff.toml, .ruff.toml, or pyproject.toml with a [tool.ruff] table), ruff server runs next to basedpyright as a managed pip tool: its lint diagnostics, Reformat Code / format on save, Optimize Imports and Code Cleanup's fix-all. It is listed after the type checkers, so hover, navigation and rename stay with them; projects without a Ruff configuration never start or install it. Root markers accept file#table to require a TOML table, and a hand-defined server named ruff now only overrides how the built-in one launches. Verified with the real-servers end-to-end test against ruff and basedpyright.

l0ng-ai e2f8e8d5bc fix(cpp): explain missing clang-tidy checks with Apple's clangd (#770)
Apple's clangd (/usr/bin/clangd, Xcode and CommandLineTools toolchains) is built without clang-tidy, so on a Mac without a managed clangd the checks from .clang-tidy never appear. When a clangd server for C, C++, Objective-C or Objective-C++ resolves to Apple's binary and the project has a .clang-tidy, show one warning per session with Install (managed LLVM clangd, which already takes precedence once installed) and Language Servers… actions. l0ng-ai ec5193f827 feat(format): external formatting with managed Prettier (#671)
Reformat Code only asked the language server for formatting, so files whose server has no formatting capability (Markdown with marksman, and others depending on the server) could not be formatted.

Languages can now declare an external formatter. Prettier is the first: a managed tool installed on demand, or the project's own node_modules/prettier, an explicit path, or PATH. It runs on the backend copy of the document with the file's path so Prettier resolves the project's config, overrides and ignore files, and its result is applied as one undoable edit. Language servers that format a file keep doing so unless Prettier is preferred in Settings › Languages › Prettier; formatting on save is opt-in. Parsers without range support format the whole file and say so.

Errors carry structured tool data, so a missing Prettier reuses the shared install prompt and Prettier diagnostics or timeouts show as non-sticky notifications.

l0ng-ai b1be3c6a09 feat(tools): pick among interchangeable language servers for every language (#313)
A language server and the fallback servers after it in languages/*.toml now share one picker in the Language Servers details pane, for every language rather than Python only: Language server for <languages>: Automatic, each server (with its status) or None, with the Automatic order in the hint. Servers outside such a group keep their on/off checkbox. ToolInfo.alternatives lists each server's group in preference order; a regular server after a fallback starts no group with it. The Python-only picker at the top of the page is removed, and names drop a language suffix the label already states. Storage is unchanged (each server's enabled flag, global or project scope), so existing settings carry over.

Jaw 5217f8570b chore: add knip and remove the dead code it reports (#247)
Adds knip (pnpm knip, knip.ts covering src, scripts, perf and e2e) and runs it in the CI frontend job. Removes what it reported: the unused codemirror and @types/dompurify dependencies, exports and test hooks used nowhere (AppLogo, Tooltip, barrel re-exports, duplicate default exports of lazily loaded settings pages), the unused iterateAll helper, and the zh entry for a deleted notification. rustfmt (used by lint-staged) is ignored as a toolchain binary.

l0ng-ai 1c46a1cd04 fix(tasks): Make every background task cancellable, queued or running (#177)
Background tasks often couldn't be cancelled, or cancelling didn't stop them:
- A cancel that arrived before the backend registered the request was dropped (build while saving files, multi-repository fetch/pull between repositories). The host now remembers early cancels (bounded, 2 min), and request ids start at a random value per page.
- There was no queue and no common cancel path: backend-reported tasks (LSP progress, deployment transfers) couldn't be cancelled, and tool installs, VCS operations and update checks had no cancel button in Background Tasks.
- Only the direct child process was killed, and JDK / tool archives were extracted without checking for cancellation.

Tool installs and JDK downloads now share a downloads queue; cancelling a queued task removes it without starting any work. Every task cancels through one path that shows "Cancelling…" and then removes it; tasks that can't be interrupted show a disabled cancel button with the reason. IdeEvent::Task carries `cancellable` with a cancel_task command, cancellable LSP progress sends window/workDoneProgress/cancel, installers, curl and tar run in their own process group and are killed as a group, and extraction checks for cancellation between entries.

胡翀таzzxzz12345 ac426c8881 feat(python): Add ty and select the Python language server (#121)
ty (`ty server`) joins basedpyright and Pyright as a Python language server (fallback, gets the project venv like the others, installable from Tools). Settings › Language Servers gets a Python language server picker: Automatic (first available), basedpyright, Pyright, ty or None, written through the per-server enabled settings (null globally / true in a project for enabled, false for disabled); other combinations show as Custom combination. Picker text is translated; the hint sits on its own line.

Jaw 70f10e741c fix(i18n): Translate the remaining UI text (Git, hierarchy, pull requests, dialogs, aria labels) (#114)
Hard-coded UI text, titles and aria-labels in about 110 components (Git panels, hierarchy, pull requests, dialogs, settings, welcome) now go through tx; spliced fragments became whole sentences (fileCount, noneFoundLabel, hierarchyTitle) and pull request states use keyed messages. 225 zh entries added, stale fragment entries removed.

Also: tx used as a tag without interpolations (tx`No checks`) now looks the text up exactly instead of as a template, so it is translated like tx("No checks"); the text-catalog test checks such tags as plain literals. Check and test counts reuse the existing "{count} passed" / "{failed} failing" entries.

l0ng-ai 48ac2094fc feat(lsp): Configure language servers and add servers of one's own (#108)
Language servers can be configured from settings.toml (global or project) and Settings › Language Servers: arguments, environment, initialization options and workspace settings per server, enable/disable, and any stdio LSP server can be added for a language. Settings-only changes are pushed with workspace/didChangeConfiguration; launch changes restart the server.

Also: re-enabling a server now detaches and stops the fallback that stood in for it, and a server added from the dialog is written as its own [languageServers.<name>] table.

l0ng-ai 8568ff001b fix(i18n): Translate interpolated UI text through a tx template tag (#98)
About 270 UI strings were JS template literals with interpolation passed to exact catalog lookup, so they could never be translated; about 25 more spliced lowercase English fragments into sentences.

`tx` now also works as a template tag (`` tx`Remove data source '${name}'?` ``): it looks up the entry by the literal parts (`{name}` placeholders), translates interpolated values that have entries, and remembers generated text so it re-translates after a language switch or when the catalog loads later. Call sites use the tag; spliced fragments are written as whole sentences per variant. Adds 280 Chinese translations and removes stale ones.

The catalog guard now also fails on untagged template literals reaching exact lookup (unless allowlisted with a reason), tagged text missing from the catalog, case-changed or ternary-suffix interpolations, and duplicate template patterns.

l0ng-ai dcdb0e48e4 fix(ui): Draw focus rings on controls only, not on focusable containers (#66)
The global :focus-visible outline loads after the module CSS with the same
specificity, so every focusable container without its own override (the
Intentions list, other list/tree/menu popups) got a square blue frame. ee99b36
patched the Select popup only. Like IDEA, rings now mark controls (buttons,
links, fields, checkboxes, tabs…); lists, trees, tables and popups show focus
through their selected row, and the few rows that drew frames use the hover
background instead.

l0ng-ai 56fdc005a8 feat(java): Download JDK, and one-click "Download JDK N" where a JDK is missing (#61)
Root cause: the IDE only detected installed JDKs and had no way to get one, so any launch needing a newer JDK than the machine has (latest jdtls needs JDK 25) dead-ended in an error.

Fix: IDEA-style Download JDK (Eclipse Temurin via the Adoptium API, sha256-verified, reusing ide-tools' download/verify code; Windows zip, Linux tar.gz, macOS Contents/Home) into <app-data>/tools/jdks, registered with JDK discovery and rescanned after each download. "Download JDK…" in the Project SDK and Language Server JDK pickers; a one-click `java.downloadJdk` "Download JDK N" on "needs JDK N" errors, which also repoints a too-old language server JDK and restarts jdtls.

Siblings: language server status popup, jdtls launch notification, run console classpath error, debug launch, run configurations without a JDK ≥ the module's Java version, Maven/Gradle sync failures, single-file Java run without `java` on PATH.

Verified in the app on macOS: vendor/version/location queries, the Download JDK dialog from the Language Server JDK picker, a real Temurin 25.0.5 download that runs. Not verified on Windows/Linux.

l0ng-ai 03a660354c feat(tools): Custom language server paths and a list/details Language Servers page
Servers and debug adapters could only be found on PATH or in the IDE's
tools folder; the only way to pick another executable (a version that
matches the project's Elixir/OTP, a local build) was an undocumented
languages/*.toml override. `tools.<command>.path` now names the
executable to launch: language servers (configure_server, restarted on
change), debug sessions and the tool list honour it, the latter
reporting a Custom status with its version or why the path is unusable.

The Language Servers page is laid out like Plugins: a compact list
grouped by availability on the left, the selected tool's command, path,
location, version, install actions and hints on the right.

A debugger named like its language server (ElixirLS's elixir-ls /
elixir-ls-debugger) was folded into the server's row and never listed;
it now gets a row of its own.

l0ng-ai 76d33f0306 feat(ui): IDEA-style message dialogs, project widget popup and Chinese UI text
Message dialogs: `Dialog` gets an `icon` (question / info / warning / error)
that renders IDEA's alert layout: no title bar, a 32px icon, bold title,
text, checkbox under it. Every confirmation helper (prompt, VCS, services,
project tree, keymap, LSP choices, run, database, Replace All) uses it. Open
Project matches IDEA: "This Window" is the default and has focus. The Code
Analysis and TODO commit checks default to Review.

Project widget: the title bar project button opens a popup like IDEA's
ProjectWidget, with Open… / Clone Repository…, the projects open in other
windows (new `window_open_projects` command) and recent projects, filtered by
typing.

Chinese UI: UI text stays written in English and is translated through a
source-text catalog (`locales/text/zh.json`, about 2300 strings). The UI
primitives (buttons, checkboxes, selects, tabs, dialogs, menus, tooltips,
toasts, settings labels and hints) translate the strings they are given.
Action titles and categories are localised in the registry, and static JSX
text uses `<T>`, so text follows a locale switch without a reload. The
Settings window now syncs the locale too. Settings search matches both
languages.

l0ng-ai acf6931017 fix(java): Run jdtls with a Lombok agent and show build errors at launch (#9)
* fix(java): Run jdtls with a Lombok agent and show build errors at launch

jdtls compiles with ECJ, which only generates Lombok members when the
server JVM runs -javaagent:lombok.jar. Nothing put it there, so @Data /
@Setter classes lost their accessors and Run launched stale classes
with "Unresolved compilation problem" stubs and no explanation.

- Projects whose build files mention Lombok get the newest jar: the
IDE-managed one (new "Lombok (jdtls agent)" tool, latest release from
Maven Central), else ~/.m2 (incl. settings.xml localRepository) or the
Gradle cache. Each agent gets its own jdtls workspace so everything is
  rebuilt with it.
- Settings › Languages & Frameworks › Java › JVM options
(java.jdt.ls.vmargs); a Lombok agent there wins.
- Run (and Debug, as a notification) list the first compile errors when
the build has errors, plus a hint when Lombok is missing or older than
  1.18.34.

Fixes #3

* fix(java): Base the Lombok hint on the agent jdtls actually runs

A Lombok agent in Settings › Java › JVM options wins over the managed
and cached jars, but the launch hint still looked only at those: with
no cached jar it said Lombok was missing, and with an old cached one it
blamed that version although jdtls ran the user's. The hint and the
startup warning now use the user's agent (version from its file name).

l0ng-ai 5e3e1f939d fix(lsp): Run jdtls on a JDK 21+ and offer Install in the server popup (#2)
* fix(lsp): Run jdtls on a JDK 21+ and offer Install in the server popup

jdtls refuses to start on Java < 21, and its launcher took whatever
JAVA_HOME / PATH pointed at, so it crash-looped with a Python traceback
when that was an older JDK (#1). Pick the first detected JDK 21+ and pass
it via JAVA_HOME; projects still compile against their own runtimes.
When none is found, report a clear message instead of launching, and
rescan on restart so a newly installed JDK is picked up. JDK detection
now also covers the java on PATH and Windows vendor directories.

The Language Servers status popup showed the manual install hint for
missing servers; it now has an Install button that runs tools.install,
which opens the Language Servers settings page for tools the IDE cannot
install itself.

Fixes #1

Claude-Session: https://claude.ai/code/session_01B65qLEKnkeYTGdbwhLpjCu

* fix(lsp): Address review of the jdtls runtime check

- Cache the JDK scan and rescan at most every 10s while no JDK 21+ is
found, refreshing the shared list instead of discarding it; skip
  duplicate Windows Program Files roots.
- Check `launch_error` in the manager (inside the blocking launch task)
rather than in ProcessLauncher, and skip such servers in batch
  inspection.
- Keep the install hint visible next to the Install button; when the tool
list failed to load, try the install so the error is reported.
- Don't let a server snapshot requested before a status event overwrite
that newer status (left jdtls showing "Starting…" while missing).
