- A marketplace index given as a local Windows path (`C:\market\index.json`)
resolves its packages next to it; only URLs are joined with `/`.
- HTTP requests to `localhost` try IPv4 loopback first, then IPv6: local
servers such as Ollama usually listen on IPv4, and on Windows a refused
`::1` cost about two seconds per request.
- Tests that assumed Unix: an absolute program path is the platform's, a
manifest rewritten by a test may have CRLF line ends, the precompiled-cache
test replaces the cache file only after the host that maps it is gone, and
the MyBatis test lets its first call build the index before asserting.
- The icon theme test's time limits guard against work growing faster than
the icon count rather than measure the runner.
- A provider result produced after its soft deadline is dropped even when it
is already waiting (the caller was scheduled late or waited on another
plugin first), so the deadline holds on a busy machine. The result is
timestamped when the plugin's thread produces it, so a result that came in
time is still used when it is read late.
- Each precompiled-component write uses its own temporary file: two threads
storing the same component could rename a half-written file into place.
- Tests: the cache-corruption case replaces the file instead of overwriting
the one a running component maps; the yield test no longer counts on a
tick rate; a test that runs a shell script is Unix-only like its
neighbours.
- Plugin web pages declare `@types/node` for their Vite configs instead of
finding the repository's.
- Themes: a plugin theme is an `appearance.theme` value
(`plugin:<id>/<theme>`), offered by Settings › Appearance (and the
preferred themes of Sync with OS), Quick Switch, the toolbar gear menu and
Welcome › Customize. The project window selects it in the plugin host;
picking a built-in theme clears it. While its plugin is off, the built-in
theme of its kind shows and the choice is kept.
- File icon themes: chosen in Settings › Appearance › File icon theme and
kept in `appearance.fileIconTheme`, so every window follows.
- Keymap: plugins' default shortcuts show in Settings › Keymap as the
defaults of their actions: removable, changeable, resettable and part of
conflict checks.
- Problems: a plugin's problems are withdrawn when it stops, fails, is
disabled or uninstalled. Settings › Inspections lists them under Plugins by
plugin name; stored overrides of `plugin:` producers parse correctly.
- Status bar items of plugins are named in the status bar menu and can be
hidden.
- Languages added or removed by plugins refresh Override File Type, the
Code Style pages and Inspections without a restart.
- Uninstalling a plugin deletes the secrets it declared.
- The Settings window follows plugin changes made elsewhere.
- The plugin system is marked Preview (Settings › Plugins, README); Harbor
Night is versioned 0.1.0 like the other official plugins.
- Release: the official plugins are packed, signed (secret
PLUGIN_SIGNING_KEY) and indexed into the release as
`plugins-index.json`; released builds use it as the default marketplace.
Without the key the step is skipped.
- Graphviz: `.dot` / `.gv` files open beside a live preview (a web view
rendering with Graphviz compiled to WebAssembly) in any layout engine,
with zoom, pan, Fit and SVG / PNG export through the save dialog. What
Graphviz reports goes from the page to the plugin's code, which publishes
it as problems on the named line. A DOT language, file icons and a
New Graphviz Graph template.
- Regex Tester: a tool window whose html view sends pattern, flags, text and
replacement as you type; the plugin matches with Rust's regex (linear time)
and answers with matches, groups and the replacement in UTF-16 offsets.
Use Selection and Test Selection take the editor's selection.
- License Header: files without a copyright / SPDX header are reported when
they open and on save; a quick fix and a command add one in the file's
comment syntax (after a shebang or encoding line); a project scan in a
background task reports the rest. Holder and license are settings.
- Harbor Night becomes an official plugin and the one source of the theme
files: `openidea-plugin new --template theme`, the theme docs and tests
start from it.
- Tool windows' renders and events carry the window's active editor, as
commands do, so a view's buttons can act on what the user is editing.
- knip leaves plugins' web pages (projects of their own) alone.
- Remove the Kubernetes official plugin.
- `hello` and `language-toy` move from `plugins/` to
`crates/ide-plugin/tests/fixtures/`: they stay what the host's tests run
against, but are no longer listed as plugins of the repository.
- A `jobs` fixture takes over what only Kubernetes exercised: a tree view
filled by a pinned program, a terminal for the activated entry in the
invoking window, string and number settings, locally and in remote
projects.
- `plugins/` now holds only the official plugins; `build.sh`, CI and the
debug plugin catalog follow.
- Regenerated bindings for the merged settings, edits and plugin commands.
- Mouse shortcuts run their action through `executeAction` again.
- Dropped Chinese entries whose templates main already translates.
Install Plugin from Package File now takes an `.oiplugin`, a `.zip` or a
package folder's `plugin.toml`, and goes through the same install page
(capabilities, signature, consent) as every other install.
- A zip may hold the package at its root or in its only folder, as zipping
the folder makes; archiver metadata (`__MACOSX`, `.DS_Store`, `._*`) is
left out. A zip without a `plugin.toml` there, such as an IntelliJ plugin,
is refused with a message saying so. Unsafe paths, links and size limits
are checked as for `.oiplugin` files.
- Picking a `plugin.toml` installs its folder.

Plugins can now ship a web page as the UI of a view or custom editor
(`web = "web/index.html"`), so editors built on web libraries are plugins
rather than part of the core.
- Web views: every file under the page's directory is part of the package
(checked, copied on install, covered by the digest and signature) and
served through the `openidea-plugin` URL scheme, under a per-revision
path with a CSP of its own, into an `<iframe sandbox="allow-scripts">`.
An update or reinstall reloads open pages.
- Frame bridge (`window.openidea`), shared by html bodies and web pages:
theme, messages to the plugin's code, `document.get/edit/replace/onChange`
(versioned edits that join the text editor's undo history, Save and dirty
state), `saveFile`/`openFile` through the IDE's dialogs, and IDE shortcuts
the page leaves alone.
- Custom editor layouts: tab, split (Editor and X) or preview over the text
editor, switchable from the tab's actions.
- New points `fileIcons` and `fileTemplates`; new optional capability
`clipboard` for web views.
- Excalidraw official plugin: `.excalidraw` / `.excalidraw.json` open as an
interactive canvas kept in step with the file's text, with self-hosted
fonts, PNG/SVG export, images, file icons, a New Drawing template and
JSON highlighting. Closes#732.
- Fixes: a lock-order deadlock between listing plugins and refreshing
project pins; the dev server ignored edits under `src/features/plugins`.
- `plugins/build.sh` builds and checks web pages; CI typechecks and tests
them.

Plugin API (breaking; the plugin system is unreleased):
- Remove the runtime `contributions` interface (register-command,
register-language, register-theme). Commands, languages and themes are
declared in plugin.toml only, so everything a plugin contributes goes
through the install preview and consent. The registry drops runtime
scope, `contribute` and `dispose_runtime`; inline `definition` in
language and theme declarations is gone.
- `completion-item.kind` is a string (the 25 LSP kinds; unknown kinds show
no icon), like the other open-ended kinds.
- `lifecycle.activate` and `commands.run` return `types.error` instead of a
string. The host maps it to the matching error kind, and only `failed`
counts against the plugin: cancelling, a missing grant or an unknown
command does not. The SDK's `Plugin` returns `Result<_, Error>`; plain
messages convert to `Error::Failed`.
Runtime:
- Editor providers of several plugins are called at the same time
(`Actor::submit` + `Pending::wait`): the wait is the slowest plugin's,
not the sum, so each gets the full edit-path budget.
Versioning and tooling:
- Components are checked at install and by `openidea-plugin check` for the
plugin API they were built for; another major or a newer minor is
refused with what to do.
- Tests: the SDK's WIT matches the host's, a simulated next-minor host
links every shipped component, every host function has an SDK wrapper,
released APIs only grow (no snapshot until the first release).
- plugins/build.sh builds every checked-in component, records a source
fingerprint next to it, and `--check` fails on stale components; CI runs
it plus fmt, clippy (host and wasm) and tests for the SDK, the official
plugins and the fixtures.
- The API evolution rules and the checklist for a new host function are in
plugins/README.md; the design notes under docs/ are removed.
Rework the plugin system per docs/plugin_plan.md (P0–P8):
- Extension-point registry (ide-extension) so new contribution types register
without touching the kernel; languages, run detectors, providers, views and
UI contributions go through it.
- Per-plugin capability consent with a risk-graded ledger; process
capabilities are pinned to resolved binary paths and hashes.
- Async, actor-per-plugin Wasm runtime with lazy activation, cancellation,
events, long-running tasks and idle reclamation.
- Plugin host moved into ide-host, shared by local and remote projects.
- Distribution: install/package tooling (openidea-plugin bin) and a static
market index.
- WIT frozen as openidea:[email protected]; Rust SDK with mock host.
- Ten official validation plugins under plugins/official.
Only root Maven projects could be unlinked, and jdtls imports an aggregator with all of its modules whatever java.import.exclusions say. A module of a reactor can now be unlinked from the Maven tool window; when one is, jdtls gets initializationOptions.projectConfigurations listing the linked POMs except the aggregators above the unlinked module (plus the Gradle build file if there is one), and a Maven sync only names the POMs jdtls imported. Unlinking whole roots keeps using exclusions.

File icons read the first 64 KiB of a JVM file; a larger file cut off inside its body no longer parsed as a declaration and showed the plain Java file icon. When that happens, the declaration header (up to the first type's opening brace, skipping comments, literals and parenthesised arguments) is classified instead.
Fixes#754
The Gradle model came from a static parse of settings.gradle, which cannot follow includeFlat, projectDir assignments, computed include lists or included builds, so those modules were missing from the Gradle tool window, the Project view, indexing and run. Sync now runs an init script that prints every evaluated project (identity path, directory, build directory, source sets with test classification, Java version) without resolving dependencies; the static parser stays as the fallback before the first sync. Modules outside the root become content roots, the Project view lists the build's module group above the project folder, an unsynced Gradle build is imported once when opened, and staleness ignores comments and whitespace in build scripts.
Application / Spring Boot configurations of a Gradle module run through a JavaExec task on the source set's runtime classpath by default (Settings › Build Tools › Gradle › Build and run using), with the debugger attached to the forked JVM. The build model reaches run and the Project view through a platform store rather than a cross-feature import.

A task's agent process lived until the task was archived or the project closed, and stopping it killed only the direct child, so wrappers (npx, codex.cmd, claude shims) left the real agent running. Agents that support session/load are now stopped after 5 minutes idle and restarted with the session reloaded on the next message; agent connections, language servers and the native Claude CLI start in their own process group and are stopped with their whole tree.
New tasks run in the local checkout unless the user picks a worktree, and worktrees go next to the project (<parent>/<project>.worktrees/<task>), on the project's drive and outside its tree.

A module whose maven-compiler-plugin release/source is configured in a parent POM or in <pluginManagement> had no Java level in the build model, so its JDK fell back to the newest installed one. The level is now read from build/plugins and build/pluginManagement/plugins and inherited down the parent chain. Launching a Java application without a project JDK also takes the module level from the build model.

Run/Debug Configurations offers Import from .vscode/launch.json when the project has one (also a Find Action command). debugpy/python launches become Python, Django test, module or pytest configurations with their interpreter; debugpy attach becomes Python Remote Debug; node/pwa-node launches become node or npm configurations, attaches become Attach to Node.js, and node-terminal commands map to npm, a program or a shell line. cwd, env, envFile and the per-OS blocks are applied. Imported configurations join the dialog like new ones and are saved on OK/Apply; names already present are skipped, and a notification lists skipped entries with the reason and keys with no equivalent.

A remote window sends a command to openidea-server only when the server registers it; none of the db_* commands were registered, so they ran locally, where a remote window has no project ("no project is open in this window"). The command bodies move from src-tauri into ide_host::ops::db, the Tauri commands become thin wrappers, and the remote dispatcher registers the same ops, with cancellation for execute / table page / explain. db_export_file stays local because exports are written on the user's machine.

oxfmt ran only below an oxfmt configuration and reused the Prettier settings. It now has its own settings group and page (path, enabled languages, formatting provider, run on save) next to Prettier. For a language with an external formatter, oxfmt formats it when enabled for that language and either an oxfmt configuration is found above the file or oxfmt is the selected provider; otherwise Prettier, when enabled. Turning Prettier off for a language still leaves it to the language server. New Reformat with Prettier / Reformat with oxfmt commands run that tool regardless of the settings and report languages it cannot format.

A mapping's local path may now be an absolute path inside the project (the form IntelliJ writes), and a deployment path of . means the server root; absolute paths outside the project are kept as they are. The project-tree Deployment submenu names the default server (Upload to <server>, Download from <server>, Sync with Deployed to <server>…) and gains Sync with Deployed to Default Server. Remote Host downloads use the backend-resolved mapping, which fixes downloads under symlinked or case-different paths.

Python puts the working directory first on sys.path for -c / -m. venv creation, pip (list/install/uninstall), the library-path probe and the IDE-managed Python tool probes and installs inherited the IDE's own working directory, so a project's typing.py / logging.py there broke them ("partially initialized module 'typing'"). venv creation now runs python -I; pip, the library probe and the tool commands run in an empty private directory (keeping pip install --user packages visible), and relative requirements (., ./pkg, .[dev]) resolve against the project root. The window-label part of the original change already landed in #960.

The profiles checked in the Maven tool window only reached `mvn` (sync and
goal runs) and the Kotlin bridge. jdtls imported every module without them,
so a dependency whose version, or module, comes from a profile stayed
unresolved and its classes were reported as missing, while Build Project ran
without `-P` as well.
- A Maven sync records the profiles it ran with. jdtls gets a copy of the
user settings.xml with them in `<activeProfiles>` (m2e has no other input
for profiles), sent as a setting so a running server re-imports instead of
restarting; the file name follows its content so m2e reloads it.
- Toggling a profile reloads the Maven projects (once for several toggles in
a row, again after a sync that started with the previous choice).
- Build Project passes the synced profiles with `-P`.
- When jdtls finishes an import or project update it does not re-check open
files, so their errors stayed until the next edit; open Java files are now
re-checked on its ProjectStatus report. This also covers a POM edit or a
dependency added to ~/.m2.

Settings › Tools › Agents is split into Built-in and ACP Registry tabs. The Built-in tab lists every built-in agent with its status (custom executable or not found on PATH) and, for the selected agent, its default launch line, an Executable field (empty = auto-detect on PATH) with Browse and Reset, and its sign-in hint. Edits are staged with the Settings dialog and written on Apply / OK; Cancel discards them.
The override is written to <config>/agents/<id>.toml, keeping hand-written name, driver, args and env; resetting a command-only override removes the file. AgentProvider now exposes the program, args, built-in defaults, login hint and whether the command is editable: built-ins started through a package runner (npx) and registry installs are read-only, with the reason shown.

Maven launches put a snapshot of each module's class directory on the classpath in place of the original. The originals were built as module.join("target/classes") (`...\app\target/classes` on Windows) while JDT LS reports `...\app\target\classes`; compared as text, the original stayed next to its snapshot, so every resource was on the classpath twice and MyBatis failed with "XML fragments parsed from previous mappers already contains value". Launch class directories are now joined per component, and classpath entries are compared by a key that ignores the verbatim prefix, separators, trailing separators and, on Windows, case.
Fixes#704
The run list applies Languages & Frameworks to every configuration it returns (interpreter or toolchain command, PATH, VIRTUAL_ENV, JAVA_HOME, GOROOT, GOPATH, Go module variables, RUSTUP_TOOLCHAIN), and every save sends the user configurations back from that list, so the derived values were written to run.toml: reopening a configuration showed the IDE's whole PATH in its environment, and since applied values never replace existing ones, a saved configuration kept the old toolchain after the interpreter or SDK changed.
Saving now drops what settings derive: an environment entry or an absolute command counts as derived when applying settings to the configuration without it produces it again. The user's own values, including ones for the same variables, are kept. Covers python, pytest, django-test, npm, cargo, go, maven, tomcat, ruby, rake, rspec and godot; Gradle stays as saved, as the run list already leaves it unapplied.
Opening a project failed outright when the OS file watcher could not start (inotify limits used up, a file system without change notifications). The watcher now falls back to polling the same non-ignored directories every 2s, per directory unless flat so excluded trees like `node_modules` and `target` are not rescanned, and the project opens with an "External file changes sync may be slow" warning that gives the reason. Directory mtime changes seen only by polling are dropped so folders are not reported as modified.

Running a main class in a multi-module Maven project could fail with "Cannot resolve the classpath: jdtls: Attempted to beginRule: P/<dependency>, does not match outer scope rule: P/<module>".
`java.project.getClasspaths` and `getSettings` ran outside the jdt.ls build lock, so they could overlap a build or an m2e refresh of a sibling module that takes a nested Eclipse scheduling rule. The launch now resolves the classpath and JDK under the same build lock the build commands use. A delegated external build already holds that lock across the launch, so its callers pass `build_lock_held` instead of waiting on it again, which would deadlock.

A linked worktree created below the project while it was open never joined the repository set: its files had no status entries or gutter marks until the project was reopened.
A linked worktree's `.git` is a gitfile and its HEAD lives under `<main>/.git/worktrees/<name>/`. The watcher classified both as non-metadata, `.git/worktrees` was never watched, and the repository rescan only reacted to `<repo>/.git/HEAD`. The watcher now reports the `.git` path and `.git/worktrees/**` (without `.lock` files) as VCS changes and watches `.git/worktrees`; the rescan accepts a worktree's `.git`; and the Add/Remove Worktree commands refresh the repository set directly, so both the in-IDE and the external `git worktree` paths are covered.

GitHub Copilot, Qwen Code and Mistral Vibe were listed in the ACP Registry under their registry ids (github-copilot-cli, qwen-code, mistral-vibe), so they showed as unrelated third-party agents and could not be installed over the built-in providers. Registry ids now map to the built-in ids: the rows use the built-in name and icon, install and update into <config>/agents/<id>.toml, show "x.y.z available" when the registry has a newer version, and fall back to the built-in command on PATH after Remove. Installing never overwrites a hand-written agent config, and Remove only deletes a registry install. Changing installed providers reloads them and drops stale probes, so New Task sees the installed version right away.

Root cause, two parts:
- An explicit save (Save All before a checkout, before running, before Commit) also wrote documents that were not modified, running save actions such as stripping trailing whitespace and adding a final newline on them — files the user never touched gained whitespace-only changes. Saves now skip clean documents, as autosave already did.
- After our own VCS operations rewrote files (checkout, rollback, stash, patch, ignore, commit/worktree hooks, Directory Compare), clean editor buffers were only refreshed by the file watcher, which can miss a rewrite that keeps the length and the timestamp's millisecond. Those operations now reload clean buffers synchronously before returning, keeping each document's chosen encoding; modified buffers keep the existing conflict handling.

Root cause: shelved file paths are relative to the repository they were shelved from, but Compare with Local, Show Diff, navigation and Unshelve joined them to the selected VCS root. In a project folder that is not itself a repository (or holds several), the local file was not found and Compare with Local stayed disabled. Stash and Apply Patch already kept their repository.

Pasting an image, audio or video from the clipboard into a local terminal saves the bytes to the per-user terminal cache (20 MB limit, files older than 24 h cleaned up on the next paste, private permissions) and inserts the shell-quoted path without running anything. YAML/properties keys stayed inside the generic YAML language server, so Spring configuration bindings and their consumers were unreachable from the editor. Search Everywhere lists Spring Web endpoints matched by request path (context path tolerated) or handler method name, and Enter opens the handler. .NET projects had no run configurations.
Projects from .csproj files (and those listed in .sln/.slnx) now get configurations: executable projects (OutputType Exe/WinExe, or the Web SDK) get a .NET Project configuration running dotnet run, one per Project launch profile in Properties/launchSettings.json with its application URL and environment shown; test projects (Microsoft.NET.Test.Sdk) get dotnet test. The form edits project, target framework, launch profile, program arguments and environment, which override the profile's values. Debug builds the project, resolves the output assembly through MSBuild and launches it under netcoredbg, offering to install netcoredbg when missing. The source-text catalog test now ignores Rust character literals when collecting backend strings.

Cargo.toml had no way to tell that a dependency had a newer release.
Dependencies in [dependencies], [dev-dependencies], [build-dependencies], target tables and [workspace.dependencies] now get a weak warning when the newest stable release is outside the version requirement, with a quick fix that rewrites the requirement at its original precision ("0.7" → "0.10") in both string and inline-table forms. Versions complete inside the version string, newest first, without yanked releases. Path, git and workspace-inherited dependencies are skipped, prereleases are only suggested to prerelease requirements, and failures stay silent.
Versions come from the crates.io sparse index through the backend's HTTP client, with an in-memory and on-disk cache and coalesced requests, behind a dependency version source shared by file-type parsers so other manifests can be added later. semver is now used directly; it was already linked into the app.

CMake run configurations used fixed arguments (-B build, Debug) and only recognised existing build directories.
Projects can now define CMake profiles under Settings › Build, Execution, Deployment › CMake: build type, generator, CMake arguments, build directory (default cmake-build-<type>), build arguments and environment. Each profile gets its own Configure, Build, CTest and target run configurations, named after the profile when there are several. Configure runs first only while the build directory has no CMakeCache.txt, and a generator change clears the stale cache before configuring. Projects without profiles keep the previous detection. Arguments are stored as lists and edited with the same quoting rules as program arguments. Toolchain selection is not part of this change.

Java formatting comes from jdtls' Eclipse formatter, whose defaults differ from the IntelliJ IDEA code style. Settings › Editor › Code Style › Java now offers a formatting profile: Default (unchanged), IntelliJ IDEA, or a custom Eclipse formatter XML (absolute or project-relative path).
The IntelliJ IDEA profile is a bundled Eclipse formatter XML that follows IDEA's default Java code style item by item (indents, aligned multi-line parameters, annotation placement, else/catch/finally on the same line, array initializers, lambdas, blank lines, comments not reflowed). Manual line breaks are kept; lines longer than 120 columns wrap where necessary, which differs from IDEA's default of not wrapping. The profile reaches a running jdtls through didChangeConfiguration without a restart; an unreadable custom file shows a warning and leaves code intelligence running. Code style changes reconfigure language servers without scheduling Kotlin bridge builds.
Also drops two catalog entries whose texts are no longer used.
Fixes#649
Reformat Code only asked the language server for formatting, so files whose server has no formatting capability (Markdown with marksman, and others depending on the server) could not be formatted.
Languages can now declare an external formatter. Prettier is the first: a managed tool installed on demand, or the project's own node_modules/prettier, an explicit path, or PATH. It runs on the backend copy of the document with the file's path so Prettier resolves the project's config, overrides and ignore files, and its result is applied as one undoable edit. Language servers that format a file keep doing so unless Prettier is preferred in Settings › Languages › Prettier; formatting on save is opt-in. Parsers without range support format the whole file and say so.
Errors carry structured tool data, so a missing Prettier reuses the shared install prompt and Prettier diagnostics or timeouts show as non-sticky notifications.
