The terminal's Shell path setting was split with POSIX rules, where a backslash escapes the next character, so C:\Windows\system32\cmd.exe reached the backend as C:Windowssystem32cmd.exe and every new terminal failed to start. On Windows a backslash is now a path separator, and an unquoted path up to its .exe/.cmd/.bat/.com is the program even with spaces; paths picked from the Installed Shells menu or Browse are quoted when they contain whitespace. This was the only place the setting is parsed.
Fixes#1327
Restarting the app dropped every open terminal. Each project now remembers its terminal tabs: their working directories, renames and the split layout. They come back as new shells in the saved directories (scrollback is not kept; a predefined shell is started again, a one-shot command is not). Switching projects in a window saves the old project's tabs and opens the new one's.
xterm now opens only once its pane has a size: opening it while the tool window was still 0x0 (its first layout, or a tab under display:none) measured a zero cell and left the first tab unable to take keys. A hidden tab stays closed until it is shown, and focus requested before xterm opens is applied when it does.

IMEs that commit without composition events (Doubao on macOS) inject their text asynchronously while the keyCode-229 keydown that started the commit is still pending. xterm ignores an insertText event while a keydown is pending, and its deferred textarea diff misses text that lands after its snapshot, so a fast run of digits lost characters (1234567890 arrived as 138). On macOS the terminal now delivers those commits itself (only commits during a pending IME keydown, and composition input without compositionstart); real compositions, keys xterm already sent and input without an IME keydown stay xterm's. Linux and Windows keep the fcitx5 ImeCommitGate. Keystrokes are written to the PTY as they come instead of per animation frame, and those typed while the shell is still starting are sent once it exists.

Typing CJK punctuation such as `;` or `,` with fcitx5 in the Linux
AppImage sent each character twice: WebKitGTK commits it as
insertFromComposition + compositionend without compositionstart, so
xterm's CompositionHelper finalized the previous composition's stale
position and emitted a suffix. ImeCommitGate was meant to drop that second
emission, but compositionStart() disabled it for the rest of the session
and cancelled its rebase. The gate now works per commit: compositionstart
stands down only for its own composition, every keydown 229 starts a fresh
commit, and the textarea is rebased after each commit.
A keydown the IME did not take (Enter, an arrow, a letter outside the IME)
ends the open commit, so a key pressed right after a directly committed
punctuation mark is not dropped by the commit's timeout.

(new index_file_extensions), mnemonics and inline icons. Shortcuts are

its Preview diff.

Dragging a tab showed no floating copy: the ghost cloned the tab's classes, and .tab { position: relative } loaded after .ghost { position: fixed }. The ghost is now positioned inline, and a tab dragged within its strip stays as an empty slot the other tabs move around; the insertion line for tabs from another strip is drawn inside the edge tabs so the scroller doesn't clip it. A terminal group is now a drop target like an editor pane: the middle joins the group, an edge splits off a new group (dropZoneAt moves to ui and is shared).
Closes#1052

The Terminal could only split panes inside one tab. Split Right / Split Down now create tab groups, each with its own tabs, + and ▾; tabs can be moved between groups by dragging or Split and Move Right/Down, Unsplit merges a group back, and closing a group's last tab focuses the neighbouring group. Split actions are registered as actions and appear in the tab context menu.

Pasting an image, audio or video from the clipboard into a local terminal saves the bytes to the per-user terminal cache (20 MB limit, files older than 24 h cleaned up on the next paste, private permissions) and inserts the shell-quoted path without running anything. Copied files paste their original paths, plain text pastes unchanged, and SSH sessions keep the existing remote image-paste route. Paths are quoted per shell (zsh/bash, fish, PowerShell, cmd.exe); fish quoting now escapes backslashes and single quotes.

The Terminal tool window's tab strip uses the drag and drop Tabs already supports for editor tabs, with its own drag type so terminal and editor tabs don't mix; dropping moves the session tab to the insertion point.

resolvePath only understood POSIX paths, so on Windows the direct lookup never matched and every click fell back to a project-wide search by bare file name, which opened any same-named file. Resolve Windows drive paths and backslashes, and make the fallback query include the link's directory and check the hit's project-relative path ends with it; a bare-name match is used only for links without a directory. In a remote-project window, pasting a clipboard image into the terminal uploads it to the SSH host that owns the terminal (new term_store_image command over the existing remote RPC) and inserts the POSIX-quoted path after a successful upload, without a newline. Images go to a private per-user terminal-images directory (0700/0600, UUID names, no-follow descriptor-relative writes) and expire after 24 hours on the next upload. Failures notify and insert nothing; text paste and local terminals are unchanged. Images over 20 MiB are rejected in both the frontend and the host.

On macOS versions where WKWebView refuses user-installed fonts by family name (fonts in ~/Library/Fonts or /Library/Fonts), the editor, terminal, Markdown and UI fell back to the default font and Nerd Font icons showed as boxes; only a webfont loaded from the file's bytes renders.
Root cause: the shared font resolver only ever referred to fonts by local family name, so every consumer depended on the WebView resolving user fonts by name. A URL-based webfont is blocked by the existing font-src policy, which stays unchanged.
Fix: the shared resolver probes whether a family renders by name (on a document-attached canvas; a detached canvas falls back even when the font works) and only when it does not, fetches the enumerated user font files over a raw-bytes IPC (user fonts only, looked up by family, no paths accepted) and registers them with the FontFace API under a stable alias. Only the faces nearest regular/bold and their italics are loaded, once per family. Covers editor and editor fallback, diff/merge views, terminal font, fallback and built-in Nerd fallback (re-measured after loading), embedded terminal, settings preview, custom UI font, Markdown and Mermaid. A debug-only environment switch reproduces the WebView restriction for testing.
Verified on macOS 26 with the restriction simulated (icons boxes before, correct after) and without it (no font bytes transferred, no regression). Not run on the reporter's macOS version, Windows or Linux; other platforms keep the previous behaviour.
Fixes#592
Dropping a file on a terminal fell through to the window-wide drop, which opened it in the editor or asked to open a folder as a project. It now pastes the shell-quoted paths at the prompt, separated by spaces and with no newline, so nothing runs until the user presses Enter.
Each terminal, including the Run console, accepts only drops inside its own host. Windows paths use double quotes. Remote windows keep the existing drop, since a local path means nothing on the remote host. Verified on macOS with a simulated drop; a native Finder drag and Windows quoting were not run.

Copying files in the project view wrote only the file list to the OS clipboard, so pasting into an editor did nothing. The copy now also writes the newline-separated paths as text, which other applications can paste.
WKWebView hides that text when file URLs are present and delivers a paste event with only Files, so the IDE editor and terminal still received nothing. A shared helper now reads the OS file list when a paste has files but no text, and inserts the paths. It covers Cmd+V and context-menu Paste in the editor, the terminal and embedded terminals. Markdown image paste runs first and keeps its behaviour.
Verified on macOS. The Windows clipboard change was tested by the contributor at the clipboard level only.

Right-clicking the terminal did not focus it, and closing any context menu sent focus to the editor. Popup recorded the element to restore in an effect, after Menu had already focused its first item, so it restored the menu item; focus then fell to the body and the workbench fallback focused the editor.
Popup now records the focused element while rendering, and the terminal takes focus when its context menu opens. Enter after the menu closes goes to the shell. This covers every context menu: focus returns to what held it before the menu opened.

On Windows and Linux, Ctrl+C in the Run/Debug consoles and other DOM output views did nothing because no handler copied the selection. Each output view (Run and Debug consoles, Build output and message detail, Git console, database output, Docker logs) now copies its own selection on Ctrl+C / Ctrl+Insert (Cmd+C on macOS) through a shared helper, leaving views with their own copy handling (database grid, Problems) untouched. In terminals, Ctrl+C copies a selection on Windows and Linux and otherwise interrupts; on macOS it always interrupts. The console menu shows the host's copy shortcut.
Not verified on a real Windows machine.
Fixes#372
With WebKitGTK and fcitx5, committed IME text reached the terminal twice: the IME commits without firing compositionstart, so xterm's composition bookkeeping never advanced and every commit was emitted both as the committed text and as a stale textarea diff. An IME commit gate now lets only the first emission of a commit through (with a 250 ms safety timeout) and empties the hidden textarea once the commit ends. It engages only for input that looks like a composition (keyCode 229 / composition input events) and stands down for IMEs that report compositionstart (macOS, IBus, Windows), leaving xterm's own handling unchanged there.

The font pickers (editor, fallback, UI, terminal) become editable comboboxes: type to search installed families or enter any family name, and Refresh re-reads the system fonts. ide-fonts' cached family list is now refreshable (DirectWrite re-queries the system collection with checkForUpdates; CoreText and fontconfig are read anew), exposed through system_font_families(refresh). Before the first native result the pickers fall back to Canvas detection of common families; saved names and the last catalog are kept when a refresh fails. Fonts are enumerated on the local desktop in remote-development windows too.

#291 named letter keys by the typed character (e.key) when Alt is not held, so AZERTY Ctrl+Z is no longer Ctrl+W. Hard-coded handlers still compared the physical KeyboardEvent.code. A shared letterOf(e) in platform/keymap.ts now backs strokeOf and those handlers:
- terminal Ctrl+Shift+C / V / T (copy, paste, new tab) and Ctrl+letter control codes
- Run/Debug Configurations Ctrl/Cmd+N
- browser shortcut guards (blocked reload/print etc.)
Alt combos keep the physical key (Option / AltGr type symbols).
Letter shortcuts were matched by physical key (KeyboardEvent.code), so on AZERTY the key typing z (physical KeyW) dispatched Ctrl+W and closed the tab instead of undoing. Letters are now named by the character typed when Alt is not held; Alt combos keep the physical key since they may type a symbol (macOS Option, AltGr). The terminal's Ctrl+letter control codes use the typed letter too.

* fix(terminal): Line height, colour palette and tab names
- Line height: with "Use editor font" the terminal took the editor's roomier
line height (about 1.33 cells), stretching ASCII art and box drawing. It now
always uses Settings › Tools › Terminal › Line height (default 1.0); that
field moves out of the "Use editor font" group since it applies either way.
- Colours: the terminal gets its own --terminal-ansi-* palette (the light and
Darcula terminal colours); the Run console keeps --ansi-*. High-contrast and
palette themes keep their console colours. Colours below a 4.5:1 contrast
with the background are adjusted (xterm's minimumContrastRatio), so yellow
stays readable on white.
- Tab names: tabs keep their default name ("Local", "Local (2)") at the prompt
and show the title a program sets only while a command runs. Shell
integration now marks command start and end (OSC 133 C / D) for zsh,
bash 4.4+ (PS0) and fish.
* fix(themes): Document the terminal ANSI palette for theme plugins
The --terminal-ansi-* tokens belong in a theme's editor colour scheme, like
--ansi-*. The theme plugin template sets them and the token reference lists them.
Run oxfmt once over the whole repository (formatting only, no logic changes) and add `pnpm format:check` to the frontend CI job so unformatted code no longer builds up. `.oxfmtrc.json` now skips the generated theme docs, test fixtures and code blocks inside Markdown.

Dragging the bottom tool window edge over a terminal refit xterm on every
pointer move and sent each intermediate size to the shell, which redrew its
prompt every time. Terminals now refit at most every 100 ms while their host
keeps resizing, plus once when it stops, and the process only learns the size
once it has held for 150 ms. This covers the Terminal tool window and terminals
embedded in Run consoles.
Resizing the width of an agent conversation reflowed every entry, including the
off-screen ones (14-16 ms per move in a long session). Entries now use
content-visibility: auto, so only the visible ones are laid out.
Hard-coded UI text, titles and aria-labels in about 110 components (Git panels, hierarchy, pull requests, dialogs, settings, welcome) now go through tx; spliced fragments became whole sentences (fileCount, noneFoundLabel, hierarchyTitle) and pull request states use keyed messages. 225 zh entries added, stale fragment entries removed.
Also: tx used as a tag without interpolations (tx`No checks`) now looks the text up exactly instead of as a template, so it is translated like tx("No checks"); the text-catalog test checks such tags as plain literals. Check and test counts reuse the existing "{count} passed" / "{failed} failing" entries.

Adds Solarized Light, Solarized Dark, One Light and One Dark as built-in themes across the workbench, editor, terminal and Mermaid, keeping the original palettes (MIT notices in THIRD_PARTY_LICENSES.md, mapping in docs/themes.md).
- Native window colours are read from tokens.css at build time (`theme_frame.rs`) instead of a second colour table.
- Startup restores the built-in palette before first paint.
- Editor schemes, the terminal and Mermaid refresh on switches between themes of the same kind.
- The plugin packages of the same themes are removed.
- A test requires every built-in palette theme to define each token (only listed ones may inherit from the base theme), so new tokens can't silently miss them.

Solarized Light/Dark and One Light/Dark ship as theme plugins (plugins/theme-solarized, plugins/theme-one) with complete UI tokens, editor schemes and terminal colours, and the original palettes' MIT notices. Installing a plugin now also copies its LICENSE/NOTICE/COPYING.
Theme handling that benefits every plugin theme:
- The last plugin theme is restored before first paint (splash, workbench); the native window background follows the theme.
- HSL / color-mix() / var() colours are resolved to RGB for native windows, the Settings window and Mermaid.
- Mermaid, the terminal and editor schemes follow switches between two themes of the same kind.
- An explicitly chosen editor scheme wins over a plugin theme's editor colours.

WebKit sends the Enter (or Space) that commits a candidate after compositionend,
with isComposing already false and keyCode 229. Handlers that checked isComposing
alone ran it: dialogs confirmed and shortcuts fired while typing Chinese or
Japanese. isImeKey() checks both, and every keydown handler that skipped
composition uses it.
Root cause: the editor had no font weight settings, and the WebView rendering of JetBrains Mono looks lighter than IDEA (#32).
Fix (IDEA's Settings › Editor › Font › Typography Settings): configurable Main font weight and Bold font weight (defaults Regular 400 / Bold 700) via --fw-code / --fw-code-bold; colour-scheme bold/regular overrides still win; settings preview updates live. Replaces the Light-only 450/550 hard-coding.
Siblings covered: sticky lines, diff/merge, run console (ANSI bold), Find in Files, completion/parameter info/docs, database editor, debugger value popup, matched braces, terminal with "Use editor font".
Verified: scoped vitest, ide-core tests, in-app on macOS (settings UI, editor weight follows the setting end to end).

Root cause: the terminal built its own font-family ("JetBrains Mono", Nerd Fonts, monospace) without the bundled "JetBrains Mono Variable", so on Windows (no JetBrains Mono installed) xterm fell back to the system monospace (SimSun on Chinese Windows); xterm also measured cells before the webfont loaded.
Fix: one resolver (src/platform/fonts.ts monoFontFamily) maps JetBrains Mono to the bundled face; xterm re-measures once fonts load; "Use editor font" also takes the editor's fallback font (IDEA).

* fix(vcs): Label restored local changes as yours after Smart Checkout; name the branch checked out
Conflicts from restoring stashed changes show the user's uncommitted
changes on the left like other operations, and the checkout notification
names the new branch instead of the previous one.
* fix: Close the merge editor on Apply; confirm before terminating a running Run tab
Like IDEA, applying a merge result closes its tab, and closing a Run tab
whose process still runs asks before terminating it (with a Settings
toggle and "Do not ask again").
* fix(terminal): Don't start a new session in the background after closing the last tab
The hidden Terminal window stays mounted, so it reopened a session as soon
as the last tab closed. It now opens the Local tab only once the window is
shown again, as IDEA does.
* fix(vcs): Start the merge result from a three-way merge; close the editor on Apply
The result pane now begins with non-conflicting changes merged and each
conflict showing the base text, resolved from the side panes, instead of
raw conflict markers. Apply now reports success, so the tab closes.
fix(search): Match File Structure filter on word starts
* fix: Limit Smart Step Into to the paused line; drop usages hints on callbacks; show full intention titles
Adapters that list every remaining call in the function (debugpy) made Smart
Step Into fall back to a chooser that offered calls from later lines. Targets
are now narrowed to the calls on the paused line, so they are picked in place.
Anonymous functions and callbacks no longer get a 'no usages' hint, and
intention titles are no longer cut short when there is room for them.
* fix: Undo / Redo from the Edit menu and Find Action use the editor's history
They ran the webview's native undo, which misses programmatic edits such as
templates, completion and refactorings, so nothing happened in the editor.
* feat(nav): Complete file paths and flag unresolved web file references
Path completion in href/src/url()/@import, Markdown links and path-like strings, folders first. HTML and CSS paths that name no file get a 'Cannot resolve file' warning. File references resolve in the backend like IDEA's: relative to the file, /-rooted against the project and resource roots.
* feat: Align editor, workbench, run/debug and VCS interactions with IntelliJ IDEA

- Type into the console for stdin; Stop covers debug sessions
- Log (Shift+click) and temporary (Alt+click) breakpoints; independent suspend/log
options; Evaluate prefill and history; changed-value highlighting; expandable hints
- Build window opens on failure and jumps to the first error
- Terminal confirms closing a busy tab and lets IDE shortcuts through
VCS
- Correct ours/theirs labels during rebase, cherry-pick and revert
